Life Equations

Like most of us, I have spent years trying to understand how to
live well.

I read books. Listened for wisdom from mentors. Gathered
frameworks and quotations, anything that might offer insight and
guidance. Then one day, I began to write down equations. Simple
expressions of how ideas connect and shape one another. Ways
of understanding the most important parts of life: relationships,
purpose, work, faith, and love.

On February 14, 2025, I wrote down the first one:
Greatness = Loving what is necessary.

The idea was inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche, who suggested
that a formula for greatness was amor fati, a love of fate. He
wrote of wanting “nothing to be different, not forward, not
backward, not in all eternity. Not merely bear what is necessary…
but love it.”

That first equation began a journey that eventually led to the 70
Life Equations you will find in this book.

As I reflected on them, I began to notice something more. These
equations were not just observations. They were answers to
some of life’s deepest questions such as, How Do I Love and
Connect?

In these pages, each Life Equation is paired with a specific visual
image I created to invite contemplation, along with a reflection
question, and a next step.

My hope is that these equations will help guide you toward a life
that is joyful, meaningful, and truly your own.
